Magnetic devices are designed for the MagSafe, Qi2, and Pixelsnap ecosystems. All phones that support these features also support wireless charging, and there is a general understanding that magnetism benefits those looking for wireless charging devices a lot.
As important as a magnetic wireless charger is, it’s not the only reason to look for natural magnetic support in a smartphone. I often add magnetic adapters to devices that don’t support wireless charging at all, and it’s been a game-changer.
What can I say, I am impressed with the magnet
I recently put a magnetic ring sticker on the Honor Play 10 clear case to use the Play 10 with the ESR Qi2 wireless car charger on my trip. It doesn’t make sense to swap a wireless car charger for a single phone.

Although it doesn’t charge my phone, I can now plug my non-Qi2 device into the magnetic car charger to use it as a charger. And when I use Qi2 devices like my Pixel 10, I get wireless charging privileges. No harm, no waste.
There are many MagSafe devices for Android, as well as Qi2 or Pixelsnap devices that are not used for charging. In fact, you can use other charging devices, as long as they are wired.
If you have a power bank that supports wireless charging, it definitely has at least one USB-C port. Even if you can’t charge a wireless device, you can put a power bank behind the said phone and connect the cable to charge the battery.
Planting a magnetic power bank on the back of a phone that can’t charge wirelessly has its advantages. Don’t forget to charge your phone and drop the power bank. And if your power bank has a platform, you can support your device.
It is also much easier to use the phone while plugged into a power bank if the power bank is securely plugged into the back.
Every magnetic device can easily be used with a cordless phone once you install the magnetic ring. Anything from magnetic wallets and kickstands to phone mounts and cooking cup grips are available for use.
If you have a wireless charging stand, detach it and use it as a phone holder. At home, it’s more likely that some residents have a MagSafe iPhone, some use Qi2 Android phones like the Pixel 10, and some sports devices that don’t have magnetic support.
The trick is to buy the right magnetic materials
Having a variety of devices at home does not require you to buy different devices for different devices. If anything, you should strive to buy something that works for everyone. For example, my partner has two phones, and neither of them has native magnetic support or is compatible with wireless charging. In the meantime, I have a combination of several tools that can do one or both of these things.
I put magnetic rings on every phone in the house. So, we can use magnetic materials freely. Simplicity is liberating. One of us can use a magnetic car charger while driving. If I carry a Qi2 power bank, I make sure to carry one with a USB-C cable for both of us to use.
When I get bored of holding the phone, we exchange a moment. And when one of us needs to use a platform or a mobile phone, we don’t have to worry about anything. Everything we have at home has a magnet, so we can both use it. When we go on vacation, we only take one MagSafe phone to watch movies or YouTube.
So, it doesn’t matter if your phone can charge wirelessly or not. Add a magnetic ring to it and invest in the right kind of gear to enjoy the convenience like I do!
