Oppo Find N6 review

Signs

The Oppo Find N6 has two LTPO OLED panels – one for the cover screen and the other for the foldable display. Both offer a density of 400ppi, a refresh rate of 120Hz, support for 10-bit color depth, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision streaming.

Other notable features include 2,160Hz PWM dimming, adjustable color tone, and support for Ultra HDR images.

Both displays on the Find N6 are compatible with the Oppo AI Pen, but you have to buy the pen separately.

Oppo Find N6 review

The cover display is based on a 6.62-inch LTPO OLED panel with 1,140 x 2,616 pixels (431ppi). It has a protective nanocrystal glass. Oppo lists 600nits for normal, 1,800nits for high auto, and 3,500nits for high brightness.

The foldable screen uses an 8.12-inch LTPO OLED panel with 2,248 x 2,480 pixels (412ppi). It has a new protective layer with self-healing properties, and the whole thing sits on an improved hinge that’s been optimized to provide a zero-crease look and feel. Official brightness numbers are also 600nits for manual and 1,800nits for maximum auto, but peak brightness here is just under 2,500 nits.

Naturally, we put the Find N6 through our high light tests, and the numbers are in!

On the screen – we measured 578 nits for manual, 1,176 nits for high auto, and 1,289 nits for high brightness. As with other Oppo phones, the library offers brightness enhancement – the automatic brightness here has increased to 2,086nits and the maximum brightness – up to 3,177 nits.

With the screen folded down – we scored 607nits manual, 901nits auto, and 1,351nits high brightness in the web browser. Like other Oppos, the measurements in the gallery are high – 1,586nits for auto and 1,877nits for high brightness.

Obviously, if we take into account the light in the gallery, we can say that the figures are not so far from the official promises. But it is surprising that we can achieve these bright numbers only in selected applications.

Don’t take this the wrong way – both screens do a good job under bright light, and we never struggled to use them. But other popular foldables, such as the Z Fold7 and vivo X Fold5, still perform better.

Finally, the last part of our test is about low brightness – only one nit on both screens.

The renewal rate

There are three refresh rate modes that you can choose from as part of the Settings menu – Auto, High, and Standard.

Auto and High both use 120Hz for the most compatible interface and applications. Regardless of which of the two methods you use, the refresh rate is very strong depending on the content – 60Hz, 50Hz, 30Hz, 15Hz, 10Hz, etc.

Normal mode keeps the refresh rate high at 60Hz, but the screen is still as dynamic as using other modes.

Surprisingly, we never saw the screen select 1Hz, but this could be a problem with the system’s refresh rate monitor.

HDR and streaming

Both displays support HDR10, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, as well as an HDR Ultra image. They are successfully accepted and used correctly by all compatible applications, including Netflix.

Battery life

The Find N6 is powered by a 6,000mAh Si/C battery – the same capacity as the Honor Magic V5 battery and larger than the Galaxy Z Fold7.

First, we tested the battery life on the Find N6’s internal display. It scored an outstanding Active Use Score of 15:45h, the best we’ve had from a major folder. On-screen experiments – especially web and video streaming – are great fun.

We also tested the battery life on the cover screen. The Find N6 also won our test with a score of 18:36h, another class-leading result. It performed admirably in all test conditions.

Charging speed

Oppo Find N6 supports 80W SuperVOOC (wired) charging as well as 50W AirVOOC (wireless) charging. The phone ships with an 80W SuperVOOC adapter and cable in most markets.

Oppo Find N6 review

We used multiple adapters for charging speed testing.

Like most foldables, the Find N6 recharges slowly when in the folded state to prevent overheating – you may find it quicker to open it.

We’ve tested charging in both modes, and it’s safe to say the Find N6 offers the fastest charging speed.

When you charge the phone loosely, the battery went from 1% to 47% in 15 minutes, we hit 84% charge at the 30min mark, and full charge was reached in 46 minutes. Very impressive!

In its folded state, the Find N6 slowed down charging a bit – we got 38% in 15 minutes, 68% in 30mins, and a full charge took exactly 50 minutes.

The Find N6 offers a Smart Rapid Charging option, which increases charging speed but also makes the phone warmer. We have kept this device on so that we can get the maximum charging power.

Charging Bypass is available, too, which will come in handy if you’re gaming while charging and don’t want the heat from the charging process to affect the chipset’s performance.

Smart charging limit and charging limit are options for those who care about how their battery is charged.

Wireless charging on the back is also supported; you have a shortcut inside Quick Toggles for your convenience.

Speakers – noise and quality

The Oppo Find N6 has a pair of stereo speakers positioned at the top and bottom (not folded). One of them is actually familiar, and relatively quiet.

Oppo Find N6 review

Both speakers scored an Average mark in our loudness test. Sound quality is about average, too, with good low-, mid-, and high-end reproduction, but the output could have been richer. Now it is deep and vague.

Use the Playback controls to listen to recorded examples of the call (use headphones properly). We measure the loudness of speakers at LUFS. A lower absolute value means higher volume. Looking at the frequency response chart will tell you how far away the ideal “0db” line is for the bass, treble, and midrange output. You can add other phones to compare how they are different. The facts and figures do not compare to the old speaker test. Learn more about how we test here.
