The day of April Fools has arrived, and while famous technology companies such as Google, Apple, Samsung and others have chosen to come out with annual jokes, many other technology companies such as Dyson, Metro by T-Mobile and others are filling the gap with funny products, silly announcements and funny videos designed to help you get through the week with a smile.
We’ve been scouring the internet for the best tech comics to date, and here’s what we’ve found so far.
Scroll Stoppr from Yahoo
Finally, you can go back to your life
Look, at this point, I think everyone has a reading problem, and even though it’s April Fools’ Day, Yahoo has decided to make a real product that can help rule it out. Scroll Stoppr is a fingerprint app that prevents your finger from touching your phone’s screen, and while it looks like a full-size Yahoo app, it comes in a special Yahoo.4 box with Yahoo’s signature yodel.
PlayStation Project Playmo
Why play alone when you can have AI do it for you?
The folks at IGN have prepared a fun video showing a Copilot-inspired spoof for the PlayStation. Named PlayStation Project Playmo, this Astro Bot-themed controller with AI on top will give you game tips, beat bosses, buy V-bucks for you and give you your points! Sounds good, right?
NAM-AI glasses
Deep fried
Look, I’m as tired as you are of AI being embedded in everything but this April Fools joke from grilling company Traegar could almost be a real product: the world’s first AI-powered grilling eyewear. The virtual reality product is designed to use smart guidance, thermal imaging, night vision, and hands-free photo and video capture to help you get your steaks right, and has other features including night vision for grilling in the dark.
Project ROACH
A new type of control for The Witcher 3
See, as much as I love The Witcher 3, as an 11-year-old game, I haven’t found many reasons to return to the continent in recent years. However, if this April Fools’ joke about a new, hobbyist horse rider was real, I’d rather start the game for a ride again…literally.
Dyson Beauty pet
Because Fido needs a better hair care regimen
If you’ve been eyeing your Dyson Airarap and thinking about using it on your cat, dog or horse, it looks like the folks at Dyson are on your side… at least for April Fools’! The company announced today its Dyson Beauty Pet Range, “designed to bring high performance style to furry companions of all shapes, sizes, tails and conditions as well as fur types.” According to Dyson’s product page, options in this line include:
- Airwrap Fur: Airwrap is thin, friendly for gentle chest curves and well-sculpted sideburn waves.
- The Airstrait Mane+Tail: The ultimate Airstrait is designed to straighten and smooth equine manes, with a sleek asymmetric finish that’s perfect for any show ring.
- The Airwrap Topcoat: The Airwrap multistyler is complete with a self-cleaning brush attachment, designed to tame even the most stubborn of canine coats.
- The Supersonic Dapper: Supersonic dryer with tension combstyle device, ideal for taming poodle curls.
Metro by T-Mobile CALLoGNE
That new phone feeling, it’s a bottle
Although new car fragrances are being poured frequently, Metro by T-Mobile challenges technologists to look into their pockets for the next fragrance of CALLoGNE, which aims to repeat the feeling of “the screen protector that has just been peeled off,” and “that feeling of the first text” with his fake Eau de New Phone.
