Can Motorola produce a premium notebook?

If you’re wondering if you can trust Motorola to produce a high-quality folding notebook, let me give you my experience. Back in 2009, I bought the first smartphone to give the iPhone a run for its money. That device was the Motorola Droid, the first phone to run Android 2.0. It was not only a great move, but in its own way, it changed the dynamics of the smartphone market.,

Among the smartphones I’ve bought over the years, there have been many Motorola models since the OG Droid. I ended up with a Droid 3, a Droid 4 (what a great physical keyboard that is), a Droid Razr, a Moto Z4, and a Moto E series model. Motorola phones, you can count on Motorola to make a book quality folder that will challenge Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8.

Renders of Motorola’s upcoming Razr Ultra (2026) foldable clamshell have just been released. It was Motorola that significantly improved clamshell foldables starting in 2023 when it increased the size of the external Quick View display on the Razr+ to 3.6 inches from 2.7 inches. This allowed users to use the Quick View display as a split screen in many cases allowing certain applications to be used without opening the phone.

How Motorola got Samsung to make a much-needed update to the Galaxy Z Flip series

The Quick View display on last year’s Razr Ultra (2025) was 4 inches thick, and offered a 165Hz refresh rate. Samsung, inspired by what Motorola did with the Razr’s Quick View screen, has added Cover Screen to the Galaxy Z Flip models with an even bigger change. Originally, Samsung’s foldable clamshell had a 1.1-inch Cover Screen in a vertical ticker tape format. The minimum space left at the time, the battery percentage, and the number of notifications received by the user.

Following Motorola’s lead, Samsung finally added a larger screen to the Galaxy Z Flip models. Last year The Galaxy Z Flip 7 has a 4.1-inch Cover screen that Sammy now calls a “Flex Window.”
